Danita Gallegos

BIOGRAPHY

Danita was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and obtained her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, followed by her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Houston. Danita has served on numerous boards throughout her career, including Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Incorporated’s regional and national board, N.H.P.O. Leadership Institute Alumni Association board, and League of Women Voters Houston Board. Recognizing her contributions to the community, she was voted one of the Latino Leaders Magazine Top 20 Houston Area Leaders in 2014. 2018 she was awarded the Texas School Social Worker of the Year Honorable Mention.

Danita is committed to giving back to her community through various initiatives, including founding Golden Hearts to assist childhood cancer families financially and establishing an at-risk summer youth program called Young Dream Changers. She continues giving back to the community through her volunteer work with the Astros Foundation and therapy practice. Danita is a trainer and content developer with the National Hispanic and Latino M.H.T.T.C., where Gallegos leads national workshops on mental health wellness in the Latinx community.

Additionally, she hosts various professional and community workshops through her company, Toci Counseling & Consulting, P.L.L.C. Danita attributes her success to the strong Latina women in her life, including her maternal Grandmother, Mother, and Tias, who modeled the skills to become a servant leader and business owner.
