Angel Yvette Lopez, PhD
BIOGRAPHY
I am a published neuroscientist in the Center for Learning and Memory at the University of Texas Austin. I received my PhD in molecular and human genetics from Baylor College of Medicine and now work in a laboratory researching brain rhythms involved in learning and memory. I was awarded the Povost’s Early Career Fellowship in Neuroscience at UT Austin to pursue my long-term research interest in understanding the genetics and neurocircuitry underlying psychiatric disorders and epilepsy. I have a particular passion for improving diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM and have taught a genetics course for students from underserved communities through MIT.
